Chris Bohl interviewed by Wesley Petit-Homme

Wesley Petit-Homme (00:01): Hello, I'm Petit-Homme Wesley, and I'm here interviewing Chris from the Drum Circle Wave Program. And, Chris, would you like to introduce yourself?

Chris Bohl (00:12): Hi, my name is Chris, and I've been teaching this, this drum class for the past 12 weeks or so.

Wesley Petit-Homme (00:19): Mm-hmm. All right, Chris, that's good. Um, I would like to get into the first question, get right to, you know, how would you describe yourself as an artist?

Chris Bohl (00:29): Uh, wow. Do we have an hour to talk about this?

Wesley Petit-Homme (00:34): (laughs)

Chris Bohl (00:37): I guess I try to think of myself as an artist, as a sponge. Where I just, I try to take everything in, I try to observe, and then I put it all together and put it back out.

Wesley Petit-Homme (00:51): All right. (laughs) All right. I like that. That was a good, that was a good one right there. All right. How did being in this class make you feel though? Like, I know you're the teacher and stuff like that, but how does being here makes you feel seen?

Chris Bohl (01:05): Oh, I, I'd love to answer this question because I sometimes feel guilty that I am doing this for myself because I feel so good.

Wesley Petit-Homme (01:15): Mm. All right.

Chris Bohl (01:16): There's nothing, in fact, there's nothing I can think of besides family that makes me feel any better. There's no question about this being good work. There's no question about it. Yeah. I, I tend to float out of the prison when I leave and I look forward to the next week.

Wesley Petit-Homme (01:38): All right. Um, I'd like to ask you this last question. You know, would you like someone on the outside to know about participating in this class? Because, you know, it's hard out there, man, you know, but...

Chris Bohl (01:53): Do I want anyone to know? I, I generally do not. And the reason is, is that I feel that if I were to tell somebody about what's happening in here, then it would then become about me, about what I'm doing in here. And it's not about me.

Wesley Petit-Homme (02:14): Mm.

Chris Bohl (02:15): So if I were to talk about this outside the walls, I would be talking about my brothers in the program-

Wesley Petit-Homme (02:22): Mm-hmm.

Chris Bohl (02:23): ... and I'm not going to do that.

Wesley Petit-Homme (02:26): I like how you said that too, brothers, and all right. (laughs) All right. Well, I just want to say, man, it's good having you here, Chris. You know, I'm gonna sign up again, being here for another 12 weeks. You know, hopefully things change in this music, you know, so we could improve, you know.

Chris Bohl (02:46): Absolutely.

Wesley Petit-Homme (02:46): I like it though.

Chris Bohl (02:47): Well, I'll tell you, what you just said to me right there. That's why I'm doing it.

Wesley Petit-Homme (02:51): Right. And hopefully more, more brothers-

Chris Bohl (02:55): More brothers.

Wesley Petit-Homme (02:56): ... could sign up.

Chris Bohl (02:57): More brothers.

Wesley Petit-Homme (02:58): Yeah, could sign up, you know?

Chris Bohl (02:59): Mm-hmm.

Wesley Petit-Homme (03:01): That's what it is.

Chris Bohl (03:01): It's a shame. Some of our brothers didn't make it here today.

Wesley Petit-Homme (03:05): Yeah. Yeah. It's Franklin.

Chris Bohl (03:07): We'll see the next week.

Wesley Petit-Homme (03:08): Yeah. All right, thank you Chris for having you here today from the Wave Circle Program. Chris, thank you. You're the best teacher we had so far ever to be honest, you know, I think.

Chris Bohl (03:29): I think we're ending our time.

Wesley Petit-Homme (03:30): Yeah. So.

Chris Bohl (03:31): Thank you.

Wesley Petit-Homme (03:32): Thank you. Enjoy your day.
